Construction on Trader Joe’s advances,
store expected to open in early summer

Fans of specialty grocery store Trader Joe’s can get their shopping lists ready as construction progresses at the Nicholasville Road location.

The store is expected to open sometime in early summer.

From the outside, construction looks nearly finished, with the store’s name up on the building.

The store, which is across from Regency Center on the site of the old Joe’s Crab Shack, will be around 12,000 square feet with a separate 3,000-square-foot wine shop.

Trader Joe’s offers domestic and foreign speciality items, such as baked artisan breads, Arabica bean coffees, international frozen entrées and fresh crop nuts. They also sell their own brand that offers products that promise no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, no MSG, no genetically modified ingredients and zero added trans fats.

After the store opens, area residents can expect to receive a copy of the store’s “Fearless Flyer” in the mail. This flyer is provides descriptions of a selection of Trader Joe’s products and highlights new and unique items.

A spokesperson for Trader Joe’s said no further specifics were available at this time.
