14 students’ artwork will be featured in Fayette County Schools’ annual calendar
Art teachers this spring submitted more than 200 entries representing their students’ best work for the annual calendar art contest in Fayette County Public Schools. Volunteers from the local arts community judged the pieces, and the winners have been announced.
The district’s 2012-2013 calendar and family handbook will feature the artwork of 14 students:
Cover: Anya Hartman, Ashland Elementary, grade 4
August 2012: Fernando Andrade Contreras, Russell Cave Elementary, Early Start
September: Yuki Watanabe, Lafayette High, grade 11
October: Kate Myrup, Glendover Elementary, grade 5
November: Sydney Sun, Tates Creek Elementary, grade 4
December: Rachael Kelly, Rosa Parks Elementary, grade 3
January 2013: Ana Castellanos, Henry Clay High, grade 10
February: William Ding, Meadowthorpe Elementary, grade 4
March: Xuan Liu, Henry Clay High, grade 9
April: Kalia Barnett, Lafayette High, grade 11
May: Kyla Kepcha, The Learning Center at Linlee, grade 9
June: Payton Hawk, SCAPA at Bluegrass, grade 7
July: Wesley Nuro, Southern Middle, grade 8
August: Gabriel Slugantz, Lansdowne Elementary, grade 3
All students and employees in the district will receive a calendar in August when school starts. Additional copies (in English and Spanish) will be available at “It’s About Kids” Support Services, 701 E. Main St.
