West Sixth Brewing to more than double its capacity, add two new barrel fermenters
West Sixth Brewing of Lexington today announced that the owners plan to more than double the current brewery capacity with the addition of two 60 barrel fermenters. “These new tanks will allow us to meet the strong local demand for our flagship West Sixth IPA,” said co-founder Brady Barlow. “We are thrilled we’ve had such a great response to our beer and look forward to being able to provide even more beer to local stores and restaurants in the Central Kentucky market.”

With these two fermenters, West Sixth will be able to brew 60 more barrels of beer each week. In addition, this extra capacity will allow West Sixth to increase the variety of beers available at its taproom at 501 West Sixth Street in Lexington.
Brewer Robin Sither said, “One of our key goals is to constantly be adding to our beer selection. By adding this extra capacity, we will be able to produce even more unique beers while still keeping up the large demand we’ve seen for our West Sixth IPA.”
“Being the only craft brewery in Kentucky to put our beer in cans, we’ve heard from a lot of retailers who have interest in selling our locally-made IPA.” said co-founder Ben Self. “We already have a small presence in Louisville that we are eager to expand, and are interested in several opportunities in other parts of Kentucky.”
“Most of all, we want to make sure we have plenty of beer to serve central Kentucky,” said co-founder Joe Kuosman. “Lexington and the surrounding areas really appreciate and support local brands, and we want to keep our inventory levels such that our retailers always have inventory. With our growth, these fermenters will help insure that availability.”
West Sixth Brewing beers are distributed by Clark Distributing in the Lexington area and River City Distributing in the Louisville market. A complete list of retail locations can be found here.
West Sixth Brewing also operates a taproom at 501 West Sixth Street in Lexington. Hours are 3-10 p.m. Monday –Thursday, 12 p.m.-12 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 1-8 p.m. on Sunday.
