KyForward adds new section focused
on NKy news, features, commentary
Responding both to regional interests and our commitment to connect Kentucky, KyForward has added a new Our Northern Kentucky section to its deep and rich menu.
This expansion officially launches a plan to develop regional and statewide coverage, beyond Central Kentucky.
Readers may access Our Northern Kentucky directly or through a link at the Homepage icon or from a link provided in the “What’s Inside” directory on the right side of the Homepage.
“Given our experience in journalism and in living in Northern Kentucky, we believe we can offer an important service there,” said Judith G. Clabes, editor and publisher of KyForward. “This is just one more step in our plan to serve the entire state – and, in doing so, help all of Kentucky’s rich and diverse regions understand more about the whole.”
The section will feature news, features and commentary.
“We have established some strategic relationships already, in preparation for providing the public service we aim to provide,” Clabes said. “And we’re very pleased to have as a collaborative partner Michael Monk and his River City News.”
Monk’s River City News is an online news site, also about a year old, focusing primarily on Covington.
In addition, a growing stable of contributing columnists and freelancers are being engaged in the effort, said Clabes, adding “it’s a work in progress.”
“Northern Kentuckians will see a lot of familiar faces among the contributing voices,” she said. “I’m especially proud that Mike Farrell, long time managing editor of The Kentucky Post and now director of the Scripps Howard First Amendment Center at UK, will be among those voices. Mike has lived in Northern Kentucky all his life – and his column today about a couple of memorable teachers he encountered at Holmes High School and Northern Kentucky University is an example of the quality writing and commentary we’ll be looking for.”
Aspiring columnists and freelancers should contact Clabes at judy@kyforward.com.
Clabes was editor of The Kentucky Post from 1982-1996 when she became president and CEO of the Scripps Howard Foundation. Gene Clabes, senior editor and co-founder of KyForward, was editor and publisher of the Recorder Newspapers for many years.
