Harrison twins will play basketball at UK

Staff report

John Calipari and the UK men’s basketball team picked up two top-five prospects in the high school class of 2013 in one swoop Thursday.

Aaron Harrison and Andrew Harrison, twin brothers from Fort Bend, Texas, committed to UK in a ESPNU recruiting special.

The twins are ranked No. 3 and No. 4 in the country by Rivals.com. ESPN ranks Andrew as the No. 1 point guard and Aaron as the No. 1 shooting guard prospect nationally. Calipari has signed the No. 1 recruiting class in the country in each of his first four seasons at UK.

Calipari’s recruiting prowess and UK’s recent success wooed the pair to Lexington.

“I know his track record of course, he has a lot of high draft picks as point guards,” Andrew said. “I just one to get there first and get better every day.”

While fans might expect the two to follow in recent highly touted UK recruits’ footsteps by declaring for the NBA draft after once season, but the twins said that’s not the case.

In making their decision, they said UK was the school they would attend “for the next four years.”

The Harrison twins join Bullitt East power forward Derek Willis as UK commitments in the class of 2013.
