Fayette Heating and Air is offering a sixth year of “The Gift of Heat,” in which a new furnace will be awarded to an individual or family in need, owner Bret Melrose announced today. (Nov.28)
The winner must be nominated by a friend, family member, co-worker or group.
Nominations are open online at fayetteheating.com or can be mailed to 817 Nandino Blvd., Lexington, Ky 40511, Attn: Gift of Heat. Nominations must be submitted by midnight Friday, Dec. 14. Finalists will be selected the following day and the winning family will be announced at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 17.
The winners’ HVAC system will be installed before Christmas.
“We know that we are only reaching a fraction of those in need, and we want to reach many, many more,” said Melrose. “So, we are asking congregations and community organizations to spread the word and nominate those in need.”
Melrose did not specify how many units would be given away. For five years, the company has given at least five. Last year there were eight.
“The more I give, the more I get,” Melrose told KyForward earlier this year. Melrose’s younger brother, Craig, a successful mechanical engineer in Atlanta, was visiting last year when winners were announced and paid for an additional unit himself. In addition, suppliers and others are chipping in, making additional winners possible.
“The need is always greater than can be filled,” Melrose said, “but we can at least do something rather than nothing.”
