EKU men’s basketball team to play 3 exhibition games in Costa Rica

The Eastern Kentucky men’s basketball team will play three games in Costa Rica during a tour of the country set for Aug. 7-12.

The Colonels will play Laurentian University (of Ontario) on Aug. 8 at 8 p.m., followed by a contest against San Ramon on Aug. 9 at 9:30 p.m. Eastern closes out the three-game exhibition schedule against Laurentian University at 2 p.m. on Aug. 10. All games will be played in the capital city of San Jose, Costa Rica.

The team also will take part in a service project at Holy Spirit Orphanage and also will visit Crocodile Bridge and take a zip-line canopy tour.

“My staff and I are extremely excited about taking the team to Costa Rica,” first-year Eastern coach A.W. Hamilton said. “It will give us a great opportunity to bond and build our brand of exciting basketball.”

Hamilton will conduct eight open practices at McBrayer Arena prior to the trip, giving fans and others a glimpse into what the future holds for the Colonels. The practices are set for 7 p.m. July 24, 30, 31, Aug. 1, 2 and 5, along with a 10:30 a.m. session on Aug. 3. The practices will conclude at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 6.
