Students’ families are encouraged to schedule doctor visits as soon as possible because of new immunization requirements in Fayette County Public Schools covering Hepatitis A and Meningococcal CV4.

The first dose of Hepatitis A, which is required for all unvaccinated students regardless of age, must be received before Feb. 14. That puts the student on schedule to get the second dose in six months, prior to the start of the 2018-19 school year in mid-August.

Also, students will need to have the Meningococcal CV4 vaccination when they turn 16.

Note that the state requires all students to bring in a new immunization certificate for the upcoming school year. Families can contact their physician or the health department for more information about the vaccines and certificates.
