Keeneland Association, Cross Gate Gallery to host fifth annual Sporting Art Auction Sunday

Keeneland Association and Cross Gate Gallery of Lexington will conduct the fifth annual Sporting Art Auction on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. in the Keeneland Sales Pavilion.

The 2017 collection features 175 high-quality lots representing fine sporting art, American paintings, and sculpture from celebrated masters as well as talented new artists. The Sporting Art Auction catalog is available online at thesportingartauction.com.

Among the notable pieces cataloged this year are: Heading Home, a signed oil on canvas by Andre Pater; A Morning’s Work, Newmarket Heath, a signed oil on canvas by Sir Alfred Munnings; and Jocks Room Colors, a stunning oil on canvas by LeRoy Neiman.

The auction also will feature works by such renowned artists as Henry Stull and John Frederick Herring Jr., and contemporaries Larry Wheeler, Peter Howell, Richard Stone Reeves and Quang Ho.

In keeping with Keeneland’s mission, the Association’s portion of the auction proceeds will benefit its non-profit initiatives including support through the Keeneland Foundation.

The Sporting Art collection is open to the public for viewing in the Keeneland Sales Pavilion from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily. Doors will open at noon on Sunday.
