The Keeneland Association earned its seventh International Simulcast Award during the recent 22nd International Simulcast Conference in Delray Beach, Fla.

Keeneland is the only seven-time winner of the Simulcast Award, which honors excellence in the presentation of a race track’s live race product to its simulcast outlets. A panel of four judges selected the winners as best among 10 North American race tracks entered for consideration. Keeneland also won the award in 2003, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

The judges cited Keeneland’s beautiful graphics, great camera work and easy-to-read display of odds, will-pays and payouts along with multiple Paddock cameras encompassing both the action of the track during the Paddock walk and warm-ups.

“The Keeneland team is extremely proud to be recognized once again by the TRA and their panel of judges,” Keeneland Director of Broadcast Services G.D. Hieronymus said.“We would like to thank our vendors and on-air team who also play an important part of our production: Trakus, Pegasus Communications, American Teletimer, track announcer Kurt Becker and analysts Katie Gensler and Mike Battaglia.

“This year’s award is dedicated to one of the pioneers of CCTV for horse racing, the late Gaston Galjour, who first introduced video patrol to racing in 1969 at Fair Grounds,” Hieronymus continued. “Galjour Electronics started at Keeneland in 1971, and our operation today mirrors many of the great innovations he brought to simulcast production.”
