KentuckyOne Health to host Go Red for Women event at Jenny Wiley State Park Lunch and Learn

As part of the national effort to increase awareness of cardiovascular disease in women, Saint Joseph Martin, part of KentuckyOne Health, is partnering with the American Heart Association to host a Go Red for Women Lunch and Learn event.

The event will take place from noon-1 p.m. on Thursday, February 15 The luncheon will be held at the Wilkinson Stumbo Convention Center, located in Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, 75 Theatre Court in Prestonsburg.

The free event will feature John Triplett, DO, KentuckyOne Health Primary Care Associates, who will discuss the signs, symptoms and prevention of heart attacks in women. Complimentary lunch will also be provided.

The month of February marks American Heart Month, a time to help spread awareness about how to prevent heart disease, and to encourage people to live heart healthy lives. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the number one killer of women, and a staggering 90 percent of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease or stroke. Statistics show that 80 percent of heart disease and stroke events in women may be prevented by lifestyle changes and education.
