Lexington Burger Week returns July 9-15, with local restaurants serving creative spins on burgers

Lexington Burger Week is back July 9-15 to celebrate burgers at local restaurants serving their creative spin on Lexington’s favorite food.

“Summer is burger season. Lexington restaurateurs have created amazing culinary masterpieces that the city will really sink its teeth into,” said Chuck Creacy, publisher at Smiley Pete Publishing and organizer of the event.

At a cost of $5 each, everyone can enjoy a burger or three during the week paired with chef-selected West Sixth Brewing beer for the ultimate summertime experience. More than 110,000 of the $5 burgers were sold during Lexington Burger Week 2017.

“People love burgers. Most restaurants have a burger on the menu, but every restaurant should have a burger on the menu. From fine dining to moms and pops, burgers are a staple and diners are always in the mood for a burger,” said Theresa Stanley, director of Lexington Burger Week. “The 2018 burgers are impressive. The Sage Rabbit grinds their own beef for burgers, Azur restaurant plus patio has a delicious take on a Croque Monsieur.

“Willie’s Locally Known brought nostalgia with a pot pie-themed burger and Parlay Social makes their inaugural appearance with an old-fashioned bourbon cocktail-inspired burger. Chefs have gone above and beyond to create unique burgers with excellent beer pairings. We anticipate another great week for diners to find their favorite burger yet.”

Forty-two restaurants throughout Lexington will host Lexington Burger Week presented by Kentucky Beef Council. The week will kick off with a pep rally hosted at West Sixth Brewing from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. on July 8. Attendees can pick up an official Passport, play burger trivia, win swag from Kentucky Beef Council and West Sixth Brewing in addition to a Lexington Burger Week Golden Ticket from Beyond Grits and Smiley Pete Publishing.
