Legends to hold dance team tryouts

The Lexington Legends will hold auditions for their 2012 dance and on-field promotions teams Thursday, February 23 at the downtown location of Urban Active on the seventh floor of the Fifth Third Bank parking garage, 230 West Main Street.

Those chosen for the dance team from the auditions will have an opportunity to split duties between the dance team, which performs at Thursday and Saturday home games (20 performances), and the on-field promotions team, which performs at all other home games. Candidates may choose to audition for either or both teams. All members must be available to work at least 20 hours per week between April 12 and September 3, 2012. Members may be required to participate in other community or sponsor-related events.

The Legends Dance Team is sponsored by Sun Tan City; the on-field promotions team, known as the Mac Attack, is sponsored by McDonald’s.

“We are excited to offer another venue for dancers and like personalities in Lexington and its surrounding areas to perform, be involved in the community, and represent the Legends as a brand,” said Legends promotions coordinator Lauren Shrader. “This opportunity will give the ladies chosen an opportunity unlike any other in the Lexington area.”

Registration will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday at Urban Active. A dance clinic will follow from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. There will be an hour of practice time between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., and auditions will run from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Attendance and participation at the clinic, practice and auditions is required. Candidates must be 18 years of age or older by April 12, 2012.

Other requirements include:
-$25 audition fee
-Reliable form of transportation
-Be prepared for photo (headshot) at clinic.
-Dark colored sports bra and dance shorts
-No text on clothing
-Nude/flesh colored tights or panty hose
-Dance shoes or sneakers
-NO dance pants, warm-ups, long shorts, thongs or bikinis
-Hair must be down
-Make-up must be “dance team appropriate”

Candidates may bring a water bottle and towel.

Dance team members will receive a free unlimited tanning package for one year from Sun Tan City; a free one-year gym membership from Urban Active; and four tickets to each Legends home game worked (except Saturdays).
