The Kentucky Nonprofit Network will hold its seventh annual Kentucky Nonprofit Day at the Capitol on Feb. 8 in Frankfort.
The event provides an opportunity for nonprofits to network with state legislators and other nonprofits from around the state. The event is also an educational opportunity for legislators to learn more about the many nonprofit organizations in Kentucky, said Danielle Clore, executive director of Kentucky Nonprofit Network.
“It’s a little frightening. Every year I meet a handful of legislators who don’t really understand what a nonprofit is. There’s just a lot of education all the way around about how important nonprofits are,” Clore said of the event.
The event also encourages nonprofits to follow the idea of “many missions, one voice” and “rally around the fact that there are issue that are important to all of us,” Clore said.
In past years, the event has drawn as many as 150 nonprofit groups, Clore said.
The day’s activities include a Legislative Breakfast, committee meetings, gallery passes for the House and Senate, Capitol tours and other networking opportunities.
