U.S. Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan, the fourth female justice in Supreme Court history, will present “A Conversation with Justice Elena Kagan” Thursday, Sept. 19, as part of the University of Kentucky College of Law’s Roy R. and Virginia F. Ray Lecture Series.
The conversation, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will be in Singletary Center Recital Hall, 405 Rose St. It is sold out.
Kagan was appointed to the Supreme Court by President Barack Obama in 2010. Prior to that she was the first female U.S. solicitor general, a position she took after serving for six years as the first female dean of her alma mater, Harvard University’s Law School.
The Roy R. and Virginia F. Ray Lecture was established at the College of Law in 1977. The annual lectures are offered free of charge to the university community and the public, and are supported by a gift from Roy and Virginia Ray of Dallas, Texas.
