Lexington-Fayette health department now
offers online testing for food handler card

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department now features online testing for a food handler card, which is required by all people who handle food and drinks in the food service industry. This includes servers, bartenders, dishwashers, cooks and other kitchen workers. Certified food managers are not required to have a food handler card. Permits are good for three years.

The online test can be found on the LFCHD website, www.lexingtonhealthdepartment.org. A link will take you to a secure testing site. The cost is $15, and a credit card is required for payment.

Tests can also be taken in-person 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday at the LFCHD Division of Environmental Health, 804 Newtown Circle. Tests cost $10.

Only food handler cards issued through LFCHD are valid within Fayette County.

For more information on the program, call 859-231-9791, ext. 245.
