“Trailgating at the Top” fundraiser to promote health and wellness, sponsored by St. Joseph Hospital, will benefit Bluegrass Tomorrow, a non-profit organization committed to improving quality of life across the region.
The event, scheduled for Sunday, June 3, at the Club at Spindletop Hall, will feature live music, swimming, food vendors, beer and wine, kids inflatables, a raffle and more. Admission is $10 per person at the Spindletop main entrance and $5 per person to bike, hike, skip, run or crawl the Legacy Trail to the club. Children 12 and under are admitted free.
“We’ve been looking for a unique fundraising event for a while, and combining the Legacy Trail, health and fitness, with the tradition of a fine southern summer lawn party at Spindletop is just perfect,” said Rob Rumpke, president of Bluegrass Tomorrow. “We hope this is going to be a great success and an event everyone looks forward to for years to come.”
Winchester native Chris Carpenter, who has recorded three full-length albums and has had songs featured on several television shows, will perform. Conch Republic, an award-winning, crowd-pleasing tropical rock band from Lexington that has opened for the Beach Boys, will also take the stage.
Bluegrass Tomorrow focuses its efforts on the 18-county region covered by the 6th Congressional District and the Bluegrass Area Development District. According to the organization’s website, Bluegrass Tomorrow is “a coalition of business, farming, development and preservation interests dedicated to developing a regional unified vision focusing on land use, job growth, and quality of life innovations for the central Bluegrass Region of Kentucky.” Its mission is for the region to be recognized as great place to live and work locally, nationally and internationally.
Bluegrass Tomorrow’s five initiatives for 2011-2012 are the Young Professionals/Diversity Council, Bluegrass Green Vision, Regional Equine/Agricultural Initiative, Conservation Corridors Initiative and Regional Education Analysis.
