Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland is offering a Faith Community Nurse Preparation Course over three weekends this summer based on the standardized curriculum of the International Parish Nurse Resource Center (IPNRC). Western Kentucky
Western Kentucky University is once again hosting a noncredit online Faith Community Nursing course August 6—October 1, 2012. The curriculum for the course is interfaith and based on the IPNRC Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Curriculum 2009. This course is designed to prepare registered nurses for the specialty practice of faith community nursing. Spirituality is a content thread woven throughout each lesson. The lessons are divided into the units of spirituality, professionalism, wholistic health and community. They have varying lengths from two to four hours for a total if 34 contact hours and include such topics as prayer, self-care, ethical issues, documentation, health promotion, life issues of violence, suffering and grief, assessment and care coordination.
IPNRC faculty educator Carol Bradford, MSN, RN, FCN teaches the course. Visit the course website www.wku.edu for further information and registration. The course fee is $300.00. The registration deadline is July 16, 2012. This program is offered through a collaboration of WKU Department of Nursing, WKU Continuing Education, and the Parish Nurse Ministries of Paducah Hospitals Lourdes and Western Baptist.
