It can be difficult to stick to a fitness routine, even when you have the time and you have a facility nearby with ample equipment available. So what can you do when you throw business travel or a much-needed vacation into the mix? Well, here are a few tips for ways to keep your exercise regimen on-track, even when you’re on the road.
When packing for a trip, throw in a pair of walking or running shoes. This is a great way to get out and burn calories, no matter where you are. Check out websites of the places you are going to see if there are trails nearby for you to run, walk, or bike on. If you can’t bring a bike along or don’t want the hassle of one more thing to pack, many places also offer bike rentals. Roller blades are another option to travel the trails and it is great exercise.
If you can, find a park nearby and get your strength workout in by doing body weight exercises including walking lunges, squats, and pushups. Throw in cardio exercise with jumping jacks, burpees, or sprints. If you have access to a park bench, use it to do knee lifts or work on your triceps with dips off the bench. The bench can also provide assistance for an elevated plank.
Sometimes it takes a little planning and creativity, but wherever you are, you can always add a workout and some play into your day.
