Kentucky’s iconic specialty license plate featuring a foal lying in the grass is about to be updated, and the group that sponsors the plate wants the public to have a say in the new design.

The Kentucky Horse Council, a nonprofit equine education and leadership organization, has four possible new foal designs under consideration. Anyone who wants to vote on which design is the most attractive, may do so on the organization’s website www.kentuckyhorse.org.

“The Horse Council’s existing horse license plate has been very popular with both horse owners and the general public, and that has allowed us to provide educational programs and leadership activities on a consistent basis,” said Anna Zinkhon, president of the Kentucky Horse Council. “But it’s time for a new look, and we want to hear from all Kentuckians on the design choices for our new horse license plate. Because the current foal is so popular, we have created variations of that theme for the new designs.”

“We look forward to hearing from all Kentuckians regarding which image they would best like to put on their vehicle,” said Ginny Grulke, Executive Director of the Horse Council.  “The Commonwealth deserves a great horse license plate for our signature industry.”

The poll shows the four designs being considered and a chance to choose a favorite.  It will close at the end of the day on March 2.

The newly designed license plate will be available in 2013. The plate provides the primary source of revenue for council programs.
