Mercedes-Benz of Fort Mitchell opening its grand doors with ribbons, flag raising Friday

Mercedes-Benz of Fort Mitchell will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon cutting and flag raising ceremony this Friday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at 2100 Dixie Highway. Fort Mitchell Mayor Chris Wiest will join State Rep. Diane St. Onge, Sen. Chris McDaniel and other local elected officials to welcome the new dealership on the site of the former problematic USA Hotel.
“We have been speeding towards this day for eight months and I am proud of the effort from our team and our contractor, EGC, to make this dream a reality,” says owner Bernie Moreno. “It is a proud day for our company to now be able to call Fort Mitchell home.”
Moreno says it’s no accident he picked Fort Mitchell to locate one of the country’s most advanced and green dealerships.
“Fort Mitchell is many things — a sweet slice of Americana, beautifully situated between a metropolitan region and the rural beauty that is Northern Kentucky. But what really defines Fort Mitchell are many of the same qualities that define Mercedes-Benz: Standards, success, community and our shared values – ‘the best or nothing’,” says Moreno.
The $20 million development is expected to provide $4.4 million in tax revenues during the next decade for the state, local government and Beechwood School District. At 52,000 sq. ft., the dealership features amenities for customers including a 30-ft. waterfall and a service standard that is unique in the automobile world. Customers will enjoy the use of a putting green, a fully integrated business center and a free espresso bar while waiting for their cars to be serviced.
Mercedes-Benz of Fort Mitchell is owned by Moreno’s Collection Auto Group headquartered near Cleveland, Ohio. CAG has been named by Mercedes-Benz as the “Best of the Best” every year for the past seven, and the top dealership in the central United States.
Before initiating demolition of the hotel formerly on the site, CAG contacted The Dry Ridge ReUse Center, a local charity clearing house that sells new and used building materials to the public at discounted prices. More than 30 volunteers from the Center salvaged furniture, air conditioning units, lighting and plumbing fixtures, doors and even wood trim for resale or adaptive reuse.
Some of the efforts contractors and CAG took to make the facility earth-friendly include: a lift system using water and compressed air instead of hydraulic oil, a fiberglass-lined service bay to collect all oil and fluids in a controlled and environmentally safe way, a washing bay that is state of the art and uses less water and precise chemical disbursement, an onsite nitrogen supply system for effective tire inflation, garage doors making use of natural light, a radiant floor heating system that uses convection to reduce energy loss and 100 percent LED lighting for the interior and exterior.
