Bourbon County High School has been nominated by Ken Jones from Northern Kentucky University to perform at the 2013 American High School Theatre Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. This is the first time Bourbon County’s theatre productions have been nominated by this group.

Nominations are submitted by directors from state, regional and national theatre organizations, university theatre professors and American High School Theater Festival alumni directors. American High School Theater Festival is a collaboration of the finest in high school drama programs.

As a nominee, the program is eligible to become one of the members of this international troupe. American High School Theater Festival’s board of advisors rank completed applications based on the program’s most recent bodies of work, awards, community involvement, philosophies and recommendations.

The application process is a way to showcase the program, have experts review the work and compare the program to others across the country. If the program is selected to be a part of the 2013 contingent, the group will participate in a two-week trip in August 2013.

The program begins in London, with two days to experience historical sites and world-renowned theatre on the West End. The students will then travel by train up Britain’s coast and attend and perform at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.
