Two Fayette County elementary students place first in KET Young Writers Contest

Two students from Fayette County Public Schools were among the statewide winners in the 2012 KET Young Writers Contest.

In “Once,” third-grader Jinju Santalucia of Clays Mill Elementary described how a dragon shows his devotion to a young girl. And in “The Heir of the Lion King,” fourth-grader William Ding of Meadowthorpe Elementary told of how a leader finds the right qualities in his successor.

More than 600 illustrated stories were submitted by kids in kindergarten through fifth grade – double the number of entries KET received last year. The children were inspired by the fanciful creatures of their imaginations as well as real canine companions as they told tales of friendship and honesty.
