Y adds FREE classes at Triangle Park

The High Street YMCA is offering free outdoor classes all summer long downtown in Triangle Park. Due to the popularity of the classes which began in May and run through August 29, the Y is adding an additional Boot Camp class on Monday nights at 5:45 p.m. starting on July 9. (No classes this week). Free and open to the public. No registration required. In event of rain, classes will be held at the High Street facility. Mondays: Yoga at noon, Boot Camp at 5:45; Tuesday, pilates at noon; Wednesdays, Boot Camp at 5:30 p.m. Info – call 859.367.7349.

Safe 4th celebration hint

Everybody loves fireworks (well, almost everybody), and kids are fascinated. But the heat and fire hazard are putting a crimp in the pyrotechnics this year – and for the best. Home-based fireworks have never been a very good idea. But here is a good idea that is a nice alternative for your young ones – they’re called GLOW STICKS. Buy them in packages for $1 from your local Dollar Store. Wait ‘til dark, pass them around to the kids, they “crinkle” them to light them up – and the fun begins. Safe yet colorful – and more fun than you can imagine. So, go imagine it! Happy 4th!
