$mart Suzy: Come on, have some duct tape fun and win, debt tips, Legends fun, deals

 

Everybody loves duct tape. Suzy used to joke with her youngest son that he could fix anything with duct tape – and now it’s just the vogue. Stylish, as in some people go to proms in duct-tape outfits. And, the colors. Wow! So Suzy found a contest for you – and a chance for you to win some Lowe’s gift cards. You have to take pictures, so keep it clean (this is a family thing after all) – and share with Suzy too. Let’s see how creative you can be.

 

Have some fun with duct tape

 

We all know how versatile duct tape is – and now it’s available in a plethora of snazzy colors. Earth 911 has teamed up with Lowe’s for a “Duct Tape Reuse Challenge” which could put some money in your pocket.

 

Just go to Earth911 on Facebook for all the details of the contest – which runs through August 15th – for a chance to win a $250 Lowe’s gift card – or a $100 or $50 Lowe’s gift card.

 

Just take a picture of your best duct-tape fix-it-up and send it in.

We want to see what you have preserved, repaired or given a second chance with duct tape! Upload a photo of your most creative fix for a chance to win a gift card to keep your repair mojo going. Submit your photos through midnight, PST, August 15th. Then, we’ll pick the finalists and open the contest to a public vote through August 22nd to choose the winners.

Money smart tips

 

Kentucky’s Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) is offers consumers tips for being money Smart in honor of the agency’s 100 years serving Kentucky.

 

Here are tips regarding your debt:

 

• Avoid debt that does not help build long-term financial security.

 

• If you have multiple loans, pay off the loan with the highest interest rate first.

 

• Know that some types of credit are more expensive than others. Consider alternatives to more costly services.

 

• Internet payday loans are illegal in Kentucky and these lenders are not licensed. Do not do business with an online payday lender that has no physical location in Kentucky.

 

• Advance fee schemes – where a company requests an up-front payment for “insurance” or the “first payment” – are illegal. Often no loan is provided after the fee is collected.

 

Family fun at the Legends

 

The Legends will play four games against West Virginia, starting tonight at 7:05 p.m. It’ll be a worry-free evening for those with peanut allergies – no peanuts, sunflower seeds or any foods prepared with peanut oils in sight so those fans with allergies can enjoy the game and the concessions. It’s also Free Hot Dog Night for Kids – visit a Meijer store to pick up your voucher before the game.

 

Tomorrow is Thirsty Thursday! Beer and Pepsi products are $1 each. Game time: 7:05 p.m.

 

Friday is Reading Night. Five thousand reading posters and 1,000 toothbrushes will be given away as fans come through the gates. Also, the first 1,000 fans age 12 and under will receive a chest protector backpack giveaway. In addition, the Legends’ “Big L” invites everyone to help him celebrate his birthday Friday night. A Ford Fireworks show will follow the game which starts at 7:05 p.m.

 

On Saturday The Fur Circus will provide entertainment, and another Ford Fireworks after the game. Game time 7:05 p.m. Boy Scouts will camp out at the ballpark after the game.
