The three Kentucky Minor League Baseball teams were a combined 1-2 on Tuesday, but one former UK pitcher posted one of his best starts of the season. You can see those stories and more below in the daily BluGrass Baseball MiLB roundup:
West Virginia pounded out 13 hits to send the Lexington Legends to a 9-7 loss. Legends designated hitter Zach Johnson was 4-5 with one home run, three RBI and one run scored, and second baseman Delino DeShields Jr. was 2-4 with two RBI, two runs scored and one walk. Right-handed pithcer Nick Tropeano was charged with the loss after surrendering six runs on eight hits in four innings while striking out two batters and walking two. (Box Score)
The Bowling Green Hot Rods left just one man on base and used a quality start from right-handed pitcher Roberto Gomez for a 6-2 win versus West Michigan. Gomez earned his sixth win of the season after surrendering two runs on seven hits in six and two-thirds innings while striking out four batters and walking one. Hot Rods right fielder Drew Vettleson was 2-4 with one home run, two RBI and one run scored. Center fielder Todd Glaesmann and first baseman Cameron Seitzer also homered in the game. (Box Score)
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre used two four-run innings to send the Louisville Bats to a 9-7 loss. Bats third baseman Willie Harris was 2-3 with one RBI and two runs scored, and designated hitter Mike Costanzo was 2-4 with one home run, three RBI and one run scored. Left fielder Felix Perez also homered in the game. Right-handed pitcher Sean Gallagher was charged with his fourth loss of the season after surrendering five runs on six hits in three innings while striking out two batters and walking four. Former UK right-handed pitcher Alex Meyer earned his sixth win of the season after surrendering two hits in six shutout innings while striking out five batters and walking one in a start for low A Hagerstown.
Former Hancock County High School and WKU infielder Wade Gaynor was 3-5 with three RBI and two runs scored for high A Lakeland.
Former Butler High School and UofL infielder Adam Duvall was 3-6 with one double, one RBI and three runs scored for high A San Jose.
Former UofL infielder Phil Wunderlich was 3-4 with three runs scored for high A Charlotte.
Former NKU outfielder Jake Shaffer was 2-3 with one RBI, one run scored and one walk for AA Springfield.
Former Male High School and UofL catcher Jeff Arnold was 2-3 with one run scored for low A Augusta.
Former Hancock County High School infielder Michael Mosby was 2-3 with one run scored for high A Frederick.
Former Trinity High School infielder Tyler Kuhn was 2-5 with one double and two runs scored for AAA Charlotte.
Former Heath High School and UK outfielder Chad Wright was 2-4 for low A West Michigan.
Former St. Mary’s High School infielder Jonathan Roof was 2-4 with one double and one RBI for AAA Tucson.
Former UofL outfielder Josh Richmond slugged his fifth home run of the season for high A Myrtle Beach.
