MiLB roundup: Rusin, Snodgrass earn wins

The three Kentucky Minor League Baseball teams combined for a 2-1 record Friday, and two former Kentucky standout pitchers earned their seventh wins of the season. You can see those stories and more below in the daily BluGrass Baseball MiLB roundup:

 

The Lexington Legends fell to 0-2 in the second half with a 5-2 loss to West Virginia. Legends designated hitter Mike Kvasnicka was 2-4 with one home run, one RBI and one run scored. Right-handed pitcher Luis Ordosgoitti was charged with the loss after surrendering five runs on 10 hits in six innings while striking out two batters and walking none. Lexington tallied just four hits in the game. (Box Score)

 

The Bowling Green Hot Rods opened the second half of the season with a 9-8 win versus Dayton. Hot Rods shortstop Jake Hager was 3-5 with one double, two RBI, two runs scored and one walk, and third baseman Tyler Goeddel was 4-4 with one RBI, one run scored and one walk. Designated hitter Cameron Seitzer was 2-3 with two doubles, one RBI and two runs scored, and former WKU catcher Matt Rice was 2-5 with two runs scored. Left-handed pitcher Ryan Carpenter was credited with the win after surrendering four runs on five hits in five innings while striking out three batters and walking none. Right-handed pitcher Austin Hubbard recorded the final four outs for his eighth save. (Box Score)

 

The Louisville Bats scored a single run in the top of the 13th inning to extend their season-high winning streak to five games with a 4-3 win versus Pawtucket. Bats second baseman Kristopher Negron was 3-5 with one home run, one RBI and one run scored, and shortstop Miguel Rojas was 2-5 with one home run, one RBI and one run scored. Right-handed pitcher Pedro Villarreal did not record a decision after surrendering three runs on six hits in seven innings while striking out seven batters and walking one. Left-handed pitcher Donnie Joseph pitched two scoreless innings for the win, and right-handed pitcher Kanekoa Texeira pitched a scoreless bottom of the 13th for the save. (Box Score)

 

Former UK left-handed pitcher Chris Rusin earned his seventh win of the season after surrendering two runs on seven hits in five innings while striking out two batters and walking two in a start for AAA Iowa.

 

Former Bowling Green High School left-handed pitcher Jack Snodgrass earned his seventh win of the season after surrendering two runs on five hits in five and two-third innings while striking out three batters and walking two in a start for high A San Jose.

 

Former Paul Laurence Dunbar High School catcher Wes Wilson was 3-4 with one run scored for short-season Staten Island.

 

Former UofL infielder Phil Wunderlich was 2-4 with one triple, one double, three RBI and one walk for high A Charlotte.

 

Former UofL infielder Ryan Wright was 2-4 with two RBI and one run scored for low A Dayton.

 

Former NKU outfielder Jake Shaffer was 2-4 with two doubles, one run scored and one RBI for AA Springfield.

 

Former UK second baseman Chris Bisson was 2-4 with two stolen bases for high A Lake Elsinore.

 

Former Butler High School infielder Seth Bynum was 2-4 with one run scored for AAA Syracuse.

 

Former UK outfielder Sawyer Carroll was 2-4 for AAA Tucson.

 

Former UK third baseman Thomas McCarthy was 2-6 with one RBI and one walk for rookie-level Great Falls.

 

Former UofL right-handed pitcher Tony Zych earned his sixth save of the season with a scoreless inning of relief for high A Daytona.
