“It seems to me that one of the best ways to save our Democracy is to have more democracy . . .” — A Localocracy advocate
Localocracy is an online town square, a place where registered voters using real names can weigh in on issues that matter in their local communities.
It allows citizens to influence issues in a thoughtful way, governments to engage with real constituents, and journalists to find real stories.
Localocracy was founded in 2008 by Conor White-Sullivant who has led the company through two rounds of prize funding through the UMass Amherst Innovation Challenge. He and his three colleagues have developed a unique platform for citizen engagement.
They will survey the Lexington community to determine “top-of-list” issues, then engage citizens in online dialogue, inform all participants of the substance of the conversations and help find consensus. The process allows direct conversations between public officials and constituents, and can help official prioritize and inform.
KyForward is proud to bring this service to Kentucky for the first time.
Check back periodically to this page as the first Lexington-Fayette Localocracy discussion topics are posted.
