National Underground Railroad Museum
co-founder and storyteller coming to KSU

What’s a griot? Well, one’s coming to Kentucky State University this month.

It’s a member of a class of traveling poets, musicians and storytellers who maintain a tradition of oral history in parts of West Africa. But, not just Africa. Cincinnati has one too at the National Underground Railroad Museum.

Jerry Gore is a griot and a co-founder of the museum in downtown Cincinnati. He’s coming to KSU’s Bradford Hall from 7:30-10 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, to speak on the underground railroad experience.

The free, public event is part of the university’s celebration of Black History Month.
