G&J Pepsi-Cola presented a $5,000 donation to the Keep Lexington Beautiful Commission on April 20.
G&J Pepsi-Cola, with operations in Lexington, Winchester and Harrodsburg, plus facilities in Ohio, has been an active supporter of KLB.
“Pepsi is committed to improving the environment by continually improving the sustainability efforts at our plants and in our community,” said Farley Schalk, director of operations for G&J Pepsi. “We are excited to have a partnership with Keep Lexington Beautiful and encourage other local businesses to take an active role in keeping our community as one of the best in the country.”
Schalk said G&J Pepsi-Cola has also implemented sustainable practices at it Lexington plant to save energy and reduce the impact of stormwater runoff.
“Keep Lexington Beautiful is humbled by G&J Pepsi-Cola’s generosity,” said Patricia Knight, chair of the Commission. “G&J Pepsi-Cola has been a leader in corporate sustainability and Keep Lexington Beautiful thanks G&J Pepsi-Cola for its contribution and commitment to Lexington.”
Earlier this year, G&J Pepsi-Cola donated ad space on some of its truck fleet to promote the Great American Cleanup, a program coordinated in Lexington by the KLB.
At the national level, Pepsi-Cola has been a sponsor of the Great American Cleanup since its inception. The program helps to communicate the importance of keeping communities clean, and raises the profile on educating the public on the importance of litter prevention.
