For the third year, STRIDE (Supporting Therapeutic Recreation for Individuals with Disabilities Everyday) will host its Symphony Under the Stars fundraiser.

STRIDE, of Winchester, serves individuals who have a learning or developmental disability and are at least 16 years of age. The organization offers daily programming from cooking classes, dances, Special Olympic activites, daily living skills classes, and more in an effort to improve the quality of life for the participants.

The event is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 7. This year’s event will be at a new location. The event will take place at the home of Jeff and Debbie Adams, 5045 Van Meter Road, Winchester.

This casual event is similar to Picnic with the Pops in Lexington. A forty piece orchestra will entertain with popular songs from today as well as traditional classical pieces. The theme of the night is “An Enchanted Evening: Magic, Myth, & Make-Believe.”

Attendees are encouraged to decorate their tables with the theme in mind. There will be prizes for the top three table decorations. STRIDE’s choir will join the orchestra for a few songs.

Tables and chairs are provided that seat eight people. The cost of a table is $500. There will be complimentary valet parking and a chance to be the guest conductor. You are welcome to bring your own food & drinks to the event.
