U of L’s Walz, Durr will lead U-23 National Women’s Basketball team in Four Nations Tournament

University of Louisville women’s basketball head coach Jeff Walz and junior guard Asia Durr will look to help lead the way for the U-23 National Team as it competes in the U-23 Four Nations Tournament Saturday through Tuesday.

Walz will serve as head coach of the U-23 National Team, marking his third stint with USA Basketball. He helped both the 2014 USA Basketball Women’s U-18 National Team and 2015 U.S. Women’s U-19 World Championship Team to gold medals with a combined 12-0 record.

Durr already has enjoyed two stints with USA Basketball that resulted in gold medals: the 2013 FIBA Americas U-16 Championship and the 2014 FIBA U-17 World Championship.

Last season, she became the school’s 28th 1,000-point scorer and broke the program’s single-season record with 119 3-pointers, while extending her school record for consecutive games with a trey to 39 contests. Durr finished the year with 692 points, an average of 19.2 per game – both marks that rank fourth in the school history.

USA Basketball opens the tournament on Saturday morning at 5:30 a.m. ET against Australia and will then face Canada at 3:30 a.m. ET on Sunday. They wrap the three-game event on Tuesday morning at 5:30 a.m. ET against host Japan.
