Annual golf outing benefitting Sunrise to feature famed showman “Chi Chi” Rodriguez

Now in its 10th year and having raised nearly $400,000, the A&K Construction/Sunrise Children’s Services Golf Outing is set to take place May 24 at the Country Club of Paducah.

The annual golf benefit, sponsored by A&K Construction, helps Sunrise Children’s Services provide support to children and youth in the Paducah area whose lives are in a state of crisis as a result of abuse and neglect. Tee time is 12:30 p.m.

As an added bonus, one of the great showmen in sports history, “Chi Chi” Rodriguez, will join this year’s teams for a special appearance on the course. The World Golf Hall of Famer’s career spanned more than four decades. Rodriguez won eight times on the PGA Tour and boasts 22 Champions Tour victories. Even though his appearances at Champions Tour events were limited, his colorful performances made him a gallery favorite, while his shot-making skills earned him the respect of peers.

“We are incredibly thankful for Kenny Hunt, president of A&K Construction. His compassion for children and their welfare is widely known,” said Phil Justice, senior director of philanthropy at Sunrise. “His leadership, financial commitment, and the commitment of our sponsors is unequaled in the Paducah area. Their longstanding support helps children who are facing their greatest challenge: rising from the trauma of child abuse to a new life as a productive young adult.”

“Fundraisers like this provide much-needed resources to help us touch the lives of children and families, those in need of food, shelter, and intensive therapy to address the chaos and trauma they’ve experienced.”
