April is Child Abuse Prevention Month — Join the Face It Movement to be a face that ends child abuse

Every adult has a role to play in preventing and ending the unacceptable high rate of incidents of child abuse and neglect in Kentucky. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, concerned neighbor, or someone in the helping professional, we each can take steps to ensure every child can grow up happy, healthy, and hopeful.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Kosair Charities Face It Movement wants to empower YOU to be a face that ends child abuse in the Commonwealth.

Join our partners throughout the month by:

1. Volunteering at ONE of the Face It Movement’s partner organizations to support their efforts to prevent and end child abuse.

2. Reaching out to TWO parents or caregivers in your life to offer a helping hand or words of encouragement.

3. Checking out THREE Face It resources – such as CONNECT, TEN-4 Bruising Rule, and Body Safe Safety 101 – and placing an order to distribute materials in your community.

4. Sharing resources with FOUR family members, friends, and neighbors in your life to promote child safety information, tips for mitigating stress among caregivers, and ideas for family engagement activities. BONUS: encourage them to also sign up for regular supportive text messages from Face It by texting FacingIt to 565-25!

5. Attending FIVE Face It events – one per week – throughout the month of April. Find registration information and more Child Abuse Prevention Month event details HERE.

Be sure to follow Face It on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram throughout the month for safety tips, event highlights, parenting inspiration, and more!

The Face It Movement, an initiative founded and funded by Kosair Charities, directly addresses the unacceptable incidences of child abuse and neglect in Kentucky by promoting best practices in child abuse prevention and intervention, building awareness and engaging the community, and advocating for effective policies to improve the child welfare system.
