BGADD announces partnership with Cincinnati-based Joanie Bernard Foundation for animal welfare study

The Joanie Bernard Foundation, a Cincinnati, Ohio based cat welfare funding organization, on Tuesday announced its sponsorship of Team Shelter USA, LLC to conduct an animal welfare needs assessment in the seventeen county Bluegrass Area. The project is partnering locally with the Bluegrass Area Development District (BGADD) and Making a Difference Now (MADN) to complete the survey. Diane Parrish of MADN stated, “MADN is proud to be a partner on this exciting project.”

The project is based on a successful model seen in the Northern Kentucky Area Development District, which resulted in over $1 million in grants from the Joanie Bernard Foundation, as well as, a 2017 Innovation Award from the National Association of Development Organizations. Deborah Cribbs of the Joanie Bernard Foundation commented, “We look forward to continuing the success in Kentucky and to creating the second no-kill ADD for cats in Kentucky.”

Dr. Sara Pizano, founder and consultant of Team Shelter USA commented, ‘The Joanie Bernard Foundation and Team Shelter are very excited about the Bluegrass Area project and look forward to helping animal welfare organizations reach their full potential’.

The Bluegrass Area Development District would like to encourage shelters, rescues, and animal welfare organizations in the seventeen-county area to participate in this needs assessment. For a copy of this survey or for questions please email:shelterinfo@bgadd.org. or visit: www.bgadd.org to access an electronic version of the assessment.
