Brigadoon State Nature Preserve site for hike to commemorate 40th anniversary of Earth Day

Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission (KSNPC) invites guests to join Ecologist Brian Yahn for a guided nature hike at Brigadoon State Nature Preserve (SNP) in Barren County, on Saturday, April 23, beginning at 10 a.m. CDT.

Hikers will enjoy the spring wildflowers, identify many native plant species and participate in natural setting discussions.

Participants should arrive prepared for a 1.5-to-2-hour hike over a 1-mile moderately strenuous trail through ridge and valley terrain. Extra water, sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended.

Attendance is limited to 20 participants with a 10-person minimum. Registration is required by calling the KSNPC office (502) 573-2886 or by email: Leslie.Isaman@ky.gov.

Contact information will be required should additional notifications become necessary. Deadline for registration is close of business Thursday, April 21.

The Brigadoon SNP hike is among several activities involving Kentucky’s celebration of Earth Day and part of a year-long series of hikes celebrating KSNPC’s 40th anniversary. For more information on the Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission, please visit our website.

Directions: In Barren County, from Exit 43 on I-65, travel east on the Cumberland Parkway to its junction with US 31E in Glasgow. Follow US 31E south for 6.5 miles. Turn left onto Dover Church -Browning School Road and travel approximately 1.5 miles. Turn left onto Mutter Road. The parking area is approximately one-half mile on the left.
