Tyler Wade had four hits and two runs batted in and Miguel Andujar had two hits and three RBI as the Charleston RiverDogs took a 10-3 win over the Lexington Legends Thursday night.
After each team scored a run in the first inning, the RiverDogs took the lead with three runs in the fourth. Wade led off with a single, and came around to score when Andujar’s grounder down the third base line got past Mauricio Ramos for an error. After Michael O’Neill struck out, Eduardo de Oleo hit a two-run homer, putting Charleston up 4-1.
Charleston added two more runs in the fifth. Mark Payton doubled with one out and scored on a two-out single by Wade. Wade took second on the throw home from the outfield, and then scored on a single by Andujar.
Garcia’s two-run double in the bottom of the sixth cut the lead to 6-3, but Charleston added a run in the seventh. Brandon Thomas singled, stole second, and moved to third on Payton’s ground out. Avelino drew a walk, and when pitcher Alex Black overthrew first on a pickoff attempt, Thomas scored.
The RiverDogs pulled away with three runs in the ninth, one scoring on a double by Wade and two coming home on a single by Andujar.
Angel Rincon (3-2), who relieved starter Andy Beresford with two outs in the fifth inning, worked through the eighth to get the win.
