City of Sacramento receives $500,000 Community Development Block Grant for fire station


he Department for Local Government (DLG) approved funding for a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for the City of Sacramento. Funds will be used for design and construction of a new fire station.

The new station will have three (3) pull through double bays which will improve response time, as well as a training room and improved equipment storage.

“This is a significant grant for the Sacramento Fire Station that will do wonders in further protecting the local community,” said Sen. Joe Bowen. “First responders provide an invaluable service, and we are certainly grateful for this funding in McLean County.”

“We are thankful for HUD and the CDBG program for providing the funds for the new Sacramento Volunteer Fire Station,” said Rep. Jim Gooch, Jr. “Our volunteer firefighters are critical to the safety of our communities.”

The CDBG program provides assistance to communities for use in revitalizing neighborhoods, expanding affordable housing and economic opportunities, providing infrastructure and/or improving community facilities and services.
