CivicLex announces On the Table 2020 for March 25; group to test ‘relationship-based approach to change’

CivicLex, the new leadership behind On the Table, has announced March 25 as the official date for On the Table 2020.

The event’s website, onthetablelex.org, is now live and anyone interested in participating is encouraged to explore the site to learn more and to register as individuals attending a table or as table hosts. The site will provide attendee and host guides to make the process as simple as possible.

On The Table content will be translated into Spanish, French, Swahili, and Arabic as well.

“CivicLex is excited to be serving as the organizational lead for On the Table in 2020,” said Richard Young, Executive Director of CivicLex. “We’re engaging a whole new crop of community leaders to help us maintain what’s worked in the past and to help us evolve the model moving forward.”

“This is a great opportunity for CivicLex to test its relationship-based approach to change on a much larger scale,” said Megan Gulla, AmeriCorps VISTA/CivicLex. “I’m excited to see what On the Table can do this year, especially with its focus on broader outreach.”

Since the leadership of On the Table has transitioned to CivicLex, a number of changes are being implemented across the program:

• Survey Placement and Reports: The survey will be at the beginning of table conversations and the results will be used to create neighborhood reports that help people understand how to make change in their community.

• Multiple Days: On the Table has partnered with a handful of organizations to host public conversations each day for one week after the main conversation day. This will culminate in the launch of the 2020 U.S. Census on April 1.

• Areas of Focus: An Access Working Group has designed a place-based, relationship-driven engagement strategy to make sure we hear from people not typically heard in these conversations.
