Competitors give best efforts in district science fair involving 700+ students

More than 700 students competed Feb. 7 in the annual Kentucky American Water Science Fair, presenting projects in a variety of disciplines such as chemistry, plant sciences, engineering and physics.
 
The overall winners included Dorottya Gal, fourth grade, Meadowthorpe Elementary; Meenakshi Ambati, fifth grade, Cassidy Elementary; Evan Winkler, sixth grade, Morton Middle School; Khushi Borikar, seventh grade, Winburn Middle School; and Rachel Seevers, eighth grade, Beaumont Middle School.
 
The countywide event, hosted by Tates Creek High School, was coordinated by Fayette County Public Schools. It included public, private and home-schooled students in grades 4-12.

Next up is the Central Kentucky Regional Science and Engineering Fair, Feb. 28 at the University of Kentucky.
