Deadline extended for application to annual Lexington Minority and Women Contractor Training

Business owners are invited to apply for the annual Lexington Minority and Women Contractor Training Program, whose sponsors include Fayette County Public Schools. The 10-week series covers a range of topics from business planning, estimating and bidding, to contracts, legal issues, and project safety. The classes are reserved for minority- or women-owned companies with a minimum of 51 percent ownership in a construction or construction-related business. The goal is to help these companies compete effectively in their industry.

The program is coordinated by Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government and the Kentucky Small Business Development Center. Other sponsors include Fifth Third Bank, Blue Grass Airport, Messer Construction Co., the University of Kentucky’s Facilities Management Office, Commerce Lexington, and Lextran.

The application deadline is Dec. 24 (extended from Dec. 18), and the program fee is $100. The series begins Jan. 12 with classes meeting from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays.
