Drive-thru COVID-19 testing begins Monday on Bluegrass Community and Technical College campus

Drive-thru COVID-19 testing will begin operations next week on the Bluegrass Community and Technical College campus at 500 Newtown Pike in Lexington, emergency management officials and Gov. Andy Beshear have announced.

Lexington will be part of the next round of cities in the state to have COVID-19 testing sites in partnership with Kroger Health.

Director of Emergency Management Patricia Dugger said the site will be open from Monday-Friday, April 27-May 1, and Monday–Friday, May 4-8, operating 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. each day. The testing is done free of charge and results are expected within approximately 48 hours.

To register for a test, visit thelittleclinic.com/drivethru-testing or call 888-852-2567, then select option 1, then option 3.

“As the community’s college, we are pleased to partner with state officials and Kroger Health to provide a regional host site for COVID-19 drive-through testing,” said Dr. Koffi Akakpo, BCTC president. “Our mission is to serve our community. Our hope is that this partnership will move us one step closer to a healthy community.”

Beshear said one key to restarting business activity and paving the way back to more normal activities is widespread testing. In a move toward that goal, Beshear announced an expansion of the state’s partnership with Kroger to provide drive-through testing for the coronavirus.

“Kroger is committed to expanding our drive-through testing sites in other locations to provide this vital need to increase the health and wellness directly in our communities,” said Meegan Brown, National Health and Wellness TLC Director of Kroger Health.
