EKU extends winning streak to eight with 113-73 victory over UT Martin on Thursday night


Wendell Green Jr. and Michael Moreno combined for 48 points Thursday night as Eastern Kentucky won its eighth consecutive game with a 113-73 victory over UT Martin at McBrayer Arena.

Green finished with 25 points and four assists, while Moreno added 23 points. EKU tied an Ohio Valley Conference record by draining 20 shots from 3-point range. The Colonels improved to 13-2 overall, 7-1 in the OVC.

Moreno made five 3-pointers in six attempts, while Green was 4-for-6 from long range. EKU finished 20-for-37 from beyond the arc.

Curt Lewis finished with 19 points for EKU, which shot 60 percent from the field. Devontae Blanton added 19 points and five rebounds as the Colonels defeated the Skyhawks for the third straight time.

Cooper Robb scored eight points and dished out six assists for EKU, which is off to its best start since the 1946-47 season.

Cameron Holden scored 20 points for UT Martin, which dropped to 3-7 overall, 1-5 in the OVC.

EKU built a 46-39 halftime lead. The Colonels then outscored UT Martin 67-34 in the second half to cruise to the victory.

The Colonels now lead the all-time series with UT Martin, 31-20.
