EKU football game at Jacksonville State to be ‘Game of the Week’ on ESPN3 on October 14


Eastern Kentucky University’s football game at Jacksonville State University will air live on ESPN3 on Saturday, Oct. 14, the Ohio Valley Conference announced on Friday. 

The game is part of the league’s eight-game football “Game of the Week” package.  Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.

ESPN3 is ESPN’s live multi-screen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of exclusive sports events annually.  It is accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app and streamed on televisions through Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.  The network is currently available nationwide at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider.  It is also available at no cost to U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel via computers, smartphones and tablets connected to on-campus educational and on-base military broadband and Wi-Fi networks.

The Eastern Kentucky University football program has won two national championships, 21 conference titles and has made 21 playoff appearances.  No other Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) team has won at least two national titles and 20 or more conference championships.

The Colonels will open their 2017 season at Western Kentucky on Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. ET.  Eastern’s first home game is slated for Sept. 23 against Tennessee Tech.  For season ticket information, contact the EKU Athletics Ticket Office at 859-622-2122.

This marks the fifth-straight season the league has produced the Game of the Week package in conjunction with Tupelo Raycom (formerly WebStream Sports).  Tupelo Raycom, a Raycom Media company, brings together Tupelo-Honey (founded 1996) and WebStream Sports (2006).  With offices in New York, Indianapolis, Charlotte, Nashville and Los Angeles the company develops new programming and delivers live events, music specials and branded features for broadcast, digital and in-venue entertainment.

Kevin Ingram, host of “The Wake Up Zone” on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville, will handle play-by-play duties while Bob Belvin, on-air talent and contributor at 104.1 FM/AM 540 (ESPN Clarksville), will provide analysis.  The duo has worked together each of the past five years in the league’s TV package.

The OVC Football Game of the Week package is part of an overall multiyear agreement with ESPN which was announced in October 2013.
