Fayette County schools host annual Bluegrass Trifecta to promote healthy lifestyles

The third annual Bluegrass Trifecta, sponsored by the Fayette County Public Schools, will be held a Saturday in each of the months of March, April and May.

The five-mile races are intended to promote healthy, active lifestyles for Lexington residents of all ages. Southern Middle School hosts the Lightning Strike 5K March 23 followed by Bryan Station High School’s Defender Classic April 20. The final race will be at Sandersville Elementary May 11. Following the Sharks on the Run 5K awards will be presented to the top overall first, second- and third-place male and female participants (totaling all three race times).

Registered runners and walkers 18 and older who complete all three events will receive a “Trifecta Finisher” T-shirt and be entered in a drawing for $150, $100, $50 and door prizes. Students can also win prizes.
