Fourth annual Riders for Heroes motorcycle ride and rally event Aug. 24 in to benefit USA Cares

USA Cares, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting post-9/11 veterans and military families in crisis, has been chosen as the charity beneficiary of the Riders For Heroes 4th Annual Ride, Rally & Bike Show hosted by UAW Local 862.

“Riders for Heroes was formed with the thought that as union members we wanted to give back to those who sacrifice so much for us, our community and our nation,” said Melissa Bennett, UAW Local 862 Women’s Committee Co-Chair, and Riders for Heroes Treasurer. “As we were discussing where our sponsorship should go for the 2019 rally, we started looking into where we were needed the most. USA Cares popped up on our radar and as we looked into all that they do, we were especially impressed by the fact that in 2018, only 5.13% of the funds they raised went towards administration. Knowing that 95% of the money USA Cares raises goes towards supporting the heroes of this great nation was a major factor in our decision to support their organization with this event.”

“This year’s Riders for Heroes event is our first with our new partners at UAW Local 862,” said Trace Chesser, President/CEO, USA Cares. “Through UAW, we have an opportunity to spread awareness and grow support for our mission to a larger audience. The UAW has a long history of supporting causes that give back to veterans and first responders, and we are honored to benefit from such an anticipated event in our community.”

The ride will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, starting at Bluegrass Harley-Davidson, located at 11701 Gateworth Way in Louisville.
