Georgetown, Scott Co. featured in newest episode of KET’s Downstream; preview party set for Dec. 9

Georgetown and Scott County have starring roles in an episode of KET’s production of “Downstream,” and everyone is invited to a Preview Party on Sunday, Dec. 9, at Country Boy Brewery & Taproom to celebrate. Hosted by Georgetown/Scott County Tourism, the party will include a screening of the episode, entitled “Georgetown KY – Elkhorn Creek, Bourbon Blending and Local Feeding.” See the teaser here.

“Come see how our own Georgetown Mayor Tom Prather and Scott County Judge-Executive George Lusby help showcase the county’s many assets,” said Lori Saunders, executive director at Georgetown/Scott County Tourism. “What a fantastic time for the entire Georgetown community to get together and celebrate everything that makes this town such a great place to live.”

The 28-minute episode is described as a “weave through the streets of Georgetown to find some ‘royal’ liquid history and learn how one man quenched our thirsts in more ways than one.” Featured fun includes floating around on Elkhorn Creek, bourbon blending, preparing Local Feed cuisine and “paddling around with a country boy who can catch a fish.”

Filming took place in early June during Georgetown’s inaugural Elkhorn Creek Float Fest, a new, kid-friendly event featuring a full-day float on Kentucky’s longest creek.

The show will air on KET on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 29, 5:30 a.m. It will air on KETKY on the following dates: Wednesday, Dec. 19, 4 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 23, 9:30 a.m.; and Tuesday, Dec. 25, 1:30 p.m. All times are Eastern. A DVD of this episode is available for purchase for $19.95 (including postage and handling). Call 859-400-0136 or visit liquidkentucky.com for complete schedule or DVD purchase information.

“Georgetown KY – Elkhorn Creek, Bourbon Blending and Local Feeding” was funded by Georgetown/Scott County Tourism, Georgetown/Scott County Parks & Recreation, Four Roses and Wesbanco and produced by Lexington-based Prosper Media Group.

During the Preview Party, the show will play on a large screen at Country Boy Brewing. Attendees may wish to pair the preview with a flight of Country Boy’s craft beer, including Cougar Bait, Shotgun Wedding and seasonal offerings. Reservations not required. Seating is limited.
