God’s Pantry Food Bank expands ‘Sharing Thanksgiving’ distribution beyond Fayette County

With support provided by Kentucky Bank, God’s Pantry Food Bank is expanding the community-wide Thanksgiving distribution, Sharing Thanksgiving, beyond Fayette County.

In this 25th year the program will help residents who have been referred by community agencies in Fayette, Laurel, Rowan and Floyd counties. This year more than 4,000 Fayette County families requested assistance and were selected to receive a Thanksgiving box. The expansion will provide an additional 750 boxes to be distributed in those additional counties.

The Thanksgiving box includes a turkey, fresh potatoes, onions, eggs, butter, stuffing, cornbread, gravy, corn and anything else needed to create a Thanksgiving meal.

“Expanding Sharing Thanksgiving for our 25th annual distribution is exciting for both the Food Bank and those we serve,” said Michael Halligan, CEO of God’s Pantry Food Bank. “Helping more food insecure families celebrate around their table with a traditional meal and those they love is something we strive for each year. Many thanks to Kentucky Bank for joining us in the fight against hunger and helping more families in more communities with one less worry this holiday season.”

With the support of hundreds of volunteers and participants, our social service partners in the community, and thousands of financial contributors, we are determined to help as many families as possible celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with a traditional holiday meal.

Fayette County distributions will take place at Southland-Richmond Rd Campus at 2349 Richmond Rd, Lexington, Ky., 40502, Nov. 19-20 from 10 a.m.-noon, 1-3 p.m. and 4-6 p.m.

God’s Pantry Food Bank purchases all of the food for this program and will continue to accept financial donations to fund the Sharing Thanksgiving distribution. A $40 gift is all it takes to sponsor a family this Thanksgiving. Donations can be made by mailing a check to: God’s Pantry Food Bank, 1685 Jaggie Fox Way, Lexington, Ky., 40511, or through a secure online donation at godspantry.org.
