GoodGiving Guide Challenge 2012 surpasses $400,000 goal, receiving $586,433 in gifts

The Blue Grass Community Foundation and Smiley Pete Publishing’s GoodGiving Guide Challenge reached above and beyond their goal for the 2012 giving campaign – raising a reported $586,433 for the 68 area nonprofits involved in the challenge.
 

According to a the GoodGiving Guide’s Facebook page, gifts reached $586,433, surpassing their original goal of $400,000. The campaign began Nov. 1 and wrapped up Dec. 31. One hundred percent of the donations, less credit card processing fees, will go directly to the nonprofits designated by the donors.
 

Area nonprofits receiving the most donations are 1) God’s Pantry Food Bank with 242 gifts totaling $39,603; 2) Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence with 316 gifts totaling $34,430; 3) Hospice of the Bluegrass with 168 gifts totaling $16,850; 4) Hope Center with 66 gifts totaling $16,680; 5) Living Arts & Science Center with 115 gifts totaling $15,824.
