Gov. Matt Bevin and family invite Kentuckians to Capitol for annual Christmas Tree Lighting

Come light up the night and usher in the holiday season on the front steps of the State Capitol with a timeless Kentucky Christmas tradition: the Governor’s Christmas Tree Lighting!

Festivities begin Monday, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and cookies as you watch performances by the Frankfort School of Ballet, the Frankfort Christian Academy Middle School choir and bell ringers, and the Shelby County High School choir. Guests are encouraged to bring canned/non-perishable food items to donate to Frankfort’s shelters for men and women.

Following the tree lighting ceremony, the Governor’s Mansion is ready to welcome you with a visit from Santa Claus and music from the talented electric orchestra of Westport Middle School.

This special event will occur rain or shine, so make plans to celebrate this Christmas season with us.

The Christmas tree lighting will also be live streamed via Gov. Bevin’s Facebook page.
